Mechanism of Internal Assessment

The college centrally formulates an academic calendar in accordance with that of the University of Calcutta. It contains significant dates like the start of classes and tentative schedules of examinations. It also contains other activities including parent-teacher meetings, field trips, excursions, invited talks, tutorial and remedial classes, commencement, and result announcements of internal college evaluations. The college makes every effort to ensure that the scheduled events are held on time. 

  • From the current academic session, that is, 2022-23, IQAC mandated every department to take at least TWO Periodic Tests – PT 1 and PT 2, each carrying 20 marks, apart from an Internal Assessment (IA) of 10 Marks, totaling 50 marks in a semester. Thus a student’s Internal Assessment marks for university examination are calculated on the basis of scaling down the marks s/he has secured in 3 (three) tests (50 marks in all).  The details of the CIE is as follows:
