The strategic plans outlined as mapped out by the IQAC emphasizes a distinctive three-pronged strategy for implementing innovative and impactful academic programs, taking into account the unique environmental and social challenges of the Sundarbans with an express aim to reverse them as opportunities. Remedial Classes and Add-on Courses are introduced to complement the University curricula
By integrating sustainable practices, community engagement, and interdisciplinary approaches, these plans seek to foster academic excellence, ecological conservation, and holistic development among the learners.
Implementation of Curricula oriented for kinesthetic learning:
Sundarban Hazi Desarat College, being affiliated to the University of Calcutta, cannot frame syllabi/curricula of the disciplines of study offered in the college. But IQAC has implemented the following to go with the university curricula:
Faculty Development:
The college authority encourages faculty members to engage in research and publication activities that contribute to the understanding and preservation of the Sundarbans ecosystem.
Student-Centric Learning:
The IQAC has implemented student-centric learning methodologies, such as experiential learning, problem-based learning, and project-based assignments.
Every Department fosters a culture of critical thinking, creativity, and innovation among students through interactive classroom activities.
All academic departments encourage student involvement in community-based projects that promote environmental awareness and sustainable practices in the Sundarbans. The NSS unit of college strives to engage its volunteers in social and environmental awareness activities.
Students are also engaged through Clubs like Jaydev Payeng Eco Club and A P J Kalam Science Club as part of their learning oriented towards both environmental awareness and the cultivation of scientific temper
Research and Innovation:
The IQAC encourages its faculty to conduct researches on Sundarbans' ecosystem, biodiversity and environmental challenges, its social and economic factors through its flagship research initiative ‘Acharjya Prafulla Chandra Research Grants (Rs. 35, 000/- to a faculty from science departments and Rs. 25, 000/ - to a faculty from humanities and social science departments.
Academic Collaboration and Exchange Programs:
a. Established collaborations with other institutions of Higher Education and organizations to promote knowledge exchange, joint research projects, and faculty/student exchanges. Went into collaboration with Domkal College, Murshidabad and Prafulla Chandra College, Kolkata.
b. Encourages students and faculty to participate in international conferences, workshops, and study abroad programs to broaden their perspectives and enhance global awareness.
