UNDERSTANDING  POLITICAL THEORY

 

To get basic the theoretical knowledge about the subject. Special emphasis on concepts of rights and justice.  Theorists like Rawls and David Held get special importance.  A short introductory note on citizenship is also discussed in the course.

UNDERSTANDING POLITICAL THEORY : APPROACHES AND DEBATE

 

This course is on different approaches and debates in Political Science. Normative and Empirical approaches are discussed in this course. Special emphasis is given on the concept of Post colonialism and Feminism. Marxist approaches are discussed at length.

CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT IN INDIA

 

Evolution of the Indian Constitution is discussed in this course. Different constitutional organization’s structures and powers are discussed along with citizen’s rights and duties.

POLITICS IN INDIA: STRUCTURES AND PROCESSES

 

Through this course students can understand our political structures and processes. Different political parties and organizations are discussed in the course. Important political and social movements are discussed here.

This course helps to develop a basic idea about ancient and medieval Indian political thought. Some important political personalities like Koutilya, Rammohun Roy, Vivekananda are discussed in the course.

COMPARATIVE GOVERNMENT AND POLITICS

 

To understand how frameworks of certain regimes work and evolve. This course emphasizes on the constitutional features and ideas of U.K., U.S.A., P.R.S., France, Bangladesh and Switzerland.

PERSPECTIVE ON INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS

 

This course helps in understanding International Relations. Major theories of International Relations are discussed in the course. Special importance is given to the making of Indian Foreign Policy and different phases of Indian Foreign Policy.

This paper helps the students to learn about the international politics after 1945. The contemporary global problems are also discussed in this paper. Special emphasis is given on the framework and working of UNO.
